No home should be without a carbon monoxide alarm. And no one should be unaware of the risk of CO poisonings in the home.

Your donation will fund several initiatives vital in our fight to prevent carbon monoxide deaths.

  1. Getting CO alarms to families in need – Our leading cause is to help fire departments provide carbon monoxide alarms to residents of their own local communities. Your generosity will help prevent CO tragedies one household at a time. Even one carbon monoxide death is too many. The only way to protect a family from this tasteless, odourless and invisible poison, is to have a working CO alarm installed in their home.
  2. Public education – The Hawkins-Gignac Foundation for CO Education takes an active role with national preventive education programs. Co-founder John Gignac, Laurie Hawkin’s uncle is on a mission to “End the Silence” by ensuring no one forgets about the tragic loss of the Hawkin’s family and how their deaths could have been prevented. John leads public outreach and publicity programs across Canada aimed at raising awareness of the need for CO alarms in every home.
  3. CO Alarm Grants for Canadian Fire Departments – Many fire departments are not equipped with the most technologically advanced CO detection equipment, and this may put fire personnel and citizens at unnecessary risk. The Hawkins-Gignac Foundation for CO Education wants to help equip Canadian Fire departments with improved CO monitoring equipment for emergency calls to accurately measure to levels of Carbon monoxide in the home. This data can mean the difference between life and death. A portion of every donation is allocated towards this effort.
